The Tray Feeder is a flat, open-dish feeder used specifically for day-old chicks (one per 50 birds) during the first 5 - 7 days of life when chicks are learning to locate and consume feed. Its wide, shallow design allows many chicks to access feed simultaneously, a critical requirement for ensuring strong early feed intake that sets the foundation for the entire growing cycle. After the first week, chick feeders or tube feeders typically replace tray feeders as the primary feed source. However, the tray feeder remains indispensable for the critical early brooding period.
